Missions
Act 1
Act 1: The Beginning
It has been 10,000 years since the fall of United World Council. During that time, wars erupted all over the galaxy. Empires struggled for power as each strived to become stronger, while the weak nations became victims. Many empires have tried to unite the galaxy under one rule as the United World Council once did, but none have succeeded. However, some empires have banded together to form an alliance to resist their enemies.

The empire you are in is situated in a relatively peaceful part of the galaxy. Yesterday marked the day you leave your childhood behind. A grand feast is held and everyone in the empire drinks to your health. Today your father, the Supreme Ruler of the empire, has granted you a small portion of his empire. He has also chosen Talbot, a wise and experienced minister to become your advisor. Talbot will train you in the basics of ruling, in the hopes that one day you will become your father's successor.

Missions
Act 1 > Mission 1
Background
As your spaceship slowly approaches your destination, you survey the system. It is a small system, but it is teeming with activity. According to Talbot, this system is ideal for your training. It may be small now, but under your rule it will expand rapidly. Talbot remarks that he senses you will be a great ruler someday. Smiling back, you tell him that you will not disappoint.

Upon reaching the Sol system, Talbot asks the pilot to take a tour around the planets so that you can have a glimpse of your small empire. The tour ends as your spaceship approaches a gigantic fortress at the center of the system. This will be your home from now on.

You have already learned the basic theories of governing during your lessons. Now is the time for you to put them into practice. As a test to gauge your ability to lead, Talbot provides you with the layout of the system and lets you decide on your first move. As an Aspha Miner, you know that your primary income is generated through mining, but you will need some basic earnings to support the mining activities. Remembering your tutors’ lessons, you recall the topic on Taxation.

Objective
You are required to assign planets to housing duties.
Increase population in your system and obtain a population tax income of 2000 Credits per turn,

Step by Step guide
Go to Economy > Manage Planets
Click on Free Planets
Enter available planets to Housing.

Go to Economy > Manage Planets
Click on Population
Then enter the amount of time (turns) you wish to spend to increase population.

 Mission 1 : Obtaining Income
Talbot smiles at your accomplishment. Being miners by trade, your people are wealthy as they export the valuable minerals to other nations. Hence, they are willing to pay more taxes. Your decision has convinced Talbot that you are a capable leader. However, he warns you to always have your people on your mind, for they are the life force of your empire. Without them, your empire ceases to be. Making a note of this in your mind, Talbot leads you on to the next stage of your training.

Act 1 > Mission 2
Background
Talbot leads you to a tall building behind your command center. When you reach the 21st floor, he introduces you to a beautiful Aspha Miner. Greeting you with a smile Dr. Tomoyo, the chief scientist of Infrastructure Research proceeds to give you a short tour around the laboratory.

She explains that blueprints of infrastructure upgrades are gathered here to be decrypted. These upgrades will increase the efficiency of the infrastructure. However, the higher level an infrastructure is, the more progressively complex the encryption becomes. Hence, more time is needed to decode them. For experience, Talbot suggests that you participate in the research to upgrade the Housing infrastructure.

Objective
Obtain level 5 in Housing Infrastructure Research.

Step by Step guide
To perform these go to
Science > Research > Housing
Then enter the amount of time (turns) you wish to spend on it.

Tip
The more Housing levels you have, the more population you can support on your planets.
The number of turns required will go up after each level of infrastructure research is completed.

Remember to populate your houses as you learned in mission one. This is because you must hold campaigns to attract new population.

Mission 2 : Housing Research
When you are finally done, you feel tired to the bone. You never realized that research is so difficult and tiring. While you are resting, Dr. Tomoyo offers you a piece of white cloth. Smiling warmly as you accept, you thank her for her generosity.

Then, Talbot enters the room. As Dr. Tomoyo takes her leave, Talbot enquires your progress. You excitedly share with him your experiences and break as he smiles, listening patiently. Talbot nods after you stop and advises you to rest, for tomorrow you will move to the next stage in leading your empire.

Act 1 > Mission 3
Background
You wake up the next day to find a soldier, dressed in full uniform, standing outside your room. He stands at attention and salutes when he sees you coming out. He is here to escort you to the Starport where Talbot is waiting. You take note of the soldier’s rank and wonder why Talbot would send a colonel to fetch you.

Talbot is waiting for you at the Starport entryway as you alight from the vehicle. Without hesitation, he takes you into the open field where half a dozen squads of soldiers are waiting. Then he explains the mission to you. Talbot has instructed Colonel Haru to take you on an exploration expedition. You will learn first-hand one of the many ways to expand your empire.

Objective
Explore for 500 new planets
Have a total of 1500 planets

Step by Step guide
First build some ships, go to
Military > Shipyard > s.Seeker (Scout)

Then explore, go to
Military > Explore

Warning

Mission 3 : Exploration Campaign
You are in the cockpit of the of the command ship. This is not the first time you are in command, yet you can't help but feel the excitement building up within you.

Recalling the lessons of your tutors, you direct the scout ships into a scanning pattern as you approach the unexplored area just outside your system. Colonel Haru nods in approval. It is a basic but effective strategy that you employ. Should any hostile ships appear you can regroup quickly, for your fleet is light and bear no significant weapon to withstand any attack.
Within the hour you have accomplished your mission as your fleet meets no resistance

Research > Technology

You are now able to conduct research to develop new ships, projects and other technological advancements

Government Structure
Not having a capable leader like you previously limits the amount of planets your system has. Now there is no longer any limitation on the number of planets you can explore.

Warning
All empires with Pr (Power Rating) below 5,000 will be under protection. Exploring new planets will increase your Pr. Each new planet will increase your Pr by 50 points. If your Pr goes above the 5,000 Pr mark, other empires can attack you. Therefore try to remain under 5,000 Pr or if you should wish to go out of that, ensure you have research more powerful ships and prepare some form of defense. Also remember that ships cost $$ to maintain and they too increase your Pr.

Act 1 > Mission 4
Background

With the increased number of planets, Talbot believes it is time to build up your credit reserves. This reserve can be used to fund any plan you wish to undertake in the future as going bankrupt is the easiest of ways to put an end to your campaigns. He is sure you do not want any of that.

Your father has promised you no aid in any form once you take up the governing of this system. You are on your own now. This is the harsh truth that every leading Aspha Miner has to accept.

Objective
Obtain 200,000 credits.

Step by Step guide
Assign all planets to Housing
Increase your tax income.
(Time stands still if you don’t do anything. To kill 2 birds with one stone, spend time to increase your Housing research & running population campaigns).
****Wait and slowly accumulate your credits.

Warning
Try not to explore beyond the 1500 planets, as you are not yet ready to defend your empire.

Mission 4 : Building up credit reserve
You are in your office as your secretary is reading the daily report to you. You dismiss him once he is done and all three of your eyes fall upon the screen. You see the transmission your father has sent to you the day before, expressing his pride in you. He says that he has always had high hopes in you.

Your eyes are brimming with tears. Aspha Miners never openly express their feelings. Your father’s words cannot begin to convey how proud he is of you. His words give you courage and confidence as you look into the future of your young empire.

Act 1 > Mission 5
Background

From your studies of history, you learn that a starving population is a non-productive population. Nothing will be done and the empire will suffer. Always taking note of the well-being of your people, you decide it is time to increase your food stockpile. There’s no need to wait until a famine before stocking up. The advanced technology used in the storage facilities enables food to be stored for a long time.

Economy > Market

The 2nd way is to grow it yourself. You will have to grow your own food if you can’t buy food on the market.
Economy > Manage Planets > Free Up Planets > Assign some Agriculture

If you do not have enough free planets then you can free up some planets by
Economy > Manage Planets > Assigned Planets > Free up some planets
Or you can explore for extra planets

Tip
If there is no food available to buy from the market, you can ask some other players online to sell some or you can grow it yourself.

Warning
If you choose to explore for new planets remember to keep an eye on your empire's PR because if you get out of Newbie Protection your empire will be vulnerable to attacks.

Act 1 > Mission 6
Background

According to the final report, the amount of food is sufficient to last for years. You decide that with the new planets available, you can safely increase your population. Even though the consumption of food is increased, your income has also increased.

Talbot warns you that now is not the time for you to start your mining activities yet. You need to have a truly stable government before you can support any mining activity. He assures you that with your abilities, that day will come very soon.

Objective
Have 5000 population.

Step by Step guide
You can choose to assign more housing planets / increase your Housing research.

If you don’t have enough free planets, free up planets by
Manage Planets > Assigned Planets > Choose some planets to be freed

Then increase your population by
Economy > Population > Enter turns until your population grows to 5000

Mission 6 : Increasing the population
The speed in which the vacant planets are occupied amazes you. Only days after you announcement of the planets opened up for housing, immigrants have been flowing in to fill the available planets. Your generosity and care for your own people has spread to the nearby colonies and attracted other Aspha Miners to join your empire.

Smiling at you, Talbot is pleased with your accomplishment. Hugging the old Aspha Miner, you thank him and assure him that you will not disappoint him.

Missions
Act 1 > Mission 7
Background

Talbot informs you that you are ready to move on to the final phase of your training. Taking you to a large military base on the outskirts of the metropolis, you recall the hard days when you used to train in arms. Those who were elected to be future leaders have to undergo intensive training especially in all military disciplines. Amid the warring universe out there, only the strong survive. In the custom of your people, the leader must be stronger and braver than anybody else.

Once inside the base, you can see factories and shipyards. Numerous hangars line the facility, rows upon rows, keeping the ships that are awaiting launch within. Talbot lets you take in the scene before leading you to the command room. He explains to you that one essential part in managing an empire is managing the military. Besides governing, a good leader must be competent in military matters. You might not have to participate personally in an attack, but you are expected to make important decisions and give commands. Before building any ship, Talbot asks you to prepare a sum of money, as the construction of ships require a vast amount of credits and the upkeep will drain your empire dry if you are not careful.

Objective
Have 1,000,000 credits.

Step by Step guide
From the experience you have gained from the previous missions, you know that you need to have a larger population to collect more tax.

Now you can start producing goods which you can sell off in the Inter-Galactic-Market to get more money. Remember, you need raw materials to produce goods.

Warning
If you wish to sell resources on the market, ensure that you have sufficient resources. For example don’t sell all your food until your own population starves, then you may have to buy back from the market at a higher price.

Always have sufficient food to support your population. If you do not have enough food to support your population you will earn 80% less income.

If you wish, you can explore for additional new planets. If you are coming out of protection ensure that you have some form of defense ready.
Loyalty drops slightly as your population grows.

Tip
Try spending some time researching as time will pass by and your credit reserves will grow.
Also try to disband all ships so you will not have to pay for your ships' upkeep, therefore will be more income for your empire.

Mission 7 : Funds for your military
Talbot instructs you to classify this fund for military use. Then, whenever you need money for military, you can draw from here. However, this sum of money is only enough for your next lesson. You will need a lot more than that before you can build a fleet of significant size. The construction costs alone will be much higher, for the more advanced ships need different kinds of minerals to build.

Bringing you back to the command room once more, he switches on the main viewscreen and brings up the military data. Here, a complete list of your available ships and their information is displayed. A holographic map outlining your empire can be switched on at the center of the room. It is created to help you see the disposition of your troops for easy command. There is a smaller but similar room back at your command center.

Then, Talbot brings you out to the shipyard. There, the chief engineer is waiting for you. He explains to you the process of how the ships are constructed. When the tiring day is almost over, you question Talbot on the necessity of knowing how a ship is constructed. Smiling, he replies that it is important for a ruler to know about everything so that you can make wise decision no matter what problem arises. The next day, he gives you the task of coming up with a plan to increase the security of your empire.

Objective
Have 100,000 PR

Warning
The higher your Pr, the more powerful your neighbors are. Also expect them to be hostile.

Tip
You can temporary increase your Pr by building more ships than you can maintain, causing you to have a negative income. Ensure you have sufficient credit reserves before attempting this, if you run out of credits you will go into debt and may risk making your empire bankrupt. If your empire can’t pay off the debt then you will have to restart (Option > Restart).

Act 1 > Mission 9
Background
At last, Talbot believes that you have mastered all the basics. You should be able to handle yourself well after this if any trouble arises. He also feels that it is time for you to learn the trade of your race: mining. As part of your lessons in the past, you had been working in a White Crystal mine for some time. Every Aspha Miner will do mining at least once in his lifetime, for this is how the Aspha Miners survive even through the hardest of times. Mining breeds kinship and unity among your fellow miners. That is why your race is well-known for being loyal.

Talbot explains to you that different systems will give you different minerals. However, not all systems can support extensive mining facilities. The Rich system is one of the best systems for mining as it is rich in minerals. Talbot advises you to go and explore for more planets before starting the mining activities.

Objective
Have a total of 2,000 planets.

Tip
Your Vassal empires can help you if you are under attack. Try to obtain more Vassal empires. Vassal empires are empires under you. For more information regarding Vassal empires see Diplomacy > Vassal

The difficulty of finding new planets increases according to the total number of planets you have. Initially it may be easy to explore for new planets however later on in the game you will be required to invade other empires in order to increase your planets.

With a firm voice, Talbot says, “My young lord, I’m not trying to stop you. But if you leave now, your empire will be left without supervision. What’s more, you might return to find your empire in disorder, or worse. It is best you put everything in order before you leave to meet with your father. Act 2: Assassin in the shadow
You travel swiftly back to your old home. As your ship lands, you and Talbot immediately head for your father’s room. You stop before the door. After hesitating for a moment, you knock on the door. Your father calls you to enter. Relief sweeps over you as you hear your father’s voice. From the strength of his voice, you believe he has recovered.

Entering the room, you are shocked. Once a mighty and towering Aspha Miner who casts fear in the heart of the enemy, now only a pale and thin Miner is lying on his bed. Immediately, you kneel at the side of his bed, holding your father’s hand. Smiling to you, your father assures you that he is fine. He will be up and about in no time. However, you can see that the attack has taken a heavy toll on him. As the only son of the Great Emperor, your presence comforts him greatly. Before long, you can see that he is recovering faster now that you are here.

For the next few days, you do some snooping around on your own whenever you are free. While you are searching for the trail of the assassin, you find out that all the chiefs were killed on the night your father was poisoned. Thus, information is hard to come by. Soon, the time comes when you are forced to return to your own new empire. However, you have gathered enough to be convinced that the assassin has escaped to the outer reaches. You are frustrated, but you can feel deep inside you that you have not seen the end of his handiwork.

Once back to your own empire, you are pleased to find out that everything is as it should be. Talbot has discussed with your father about your progress. Both of them agree that you have finished your training. You are now officially the leader of your own empire.

When you return to your office, you are surprised to see the amount of documents awaiting your attention. Besides those requesting alliances or trade, there are also weekly reports of your empire. You are troubled to find that there seems to be a high rate of mining casualties in your absence. Nearly a thousand people died when a mine collapsed.

Hence, Dr. Tomoyo suggests to you to invest some time in upgrading the mining infrastructure to increase the efficiency and to reduce the risk of mining hazards within your empire. With each increase in level, the time needed to decrypt the blueprints for an upgrade is increased, but the benefits far outweigh the cost.

As your empire stabilizes, you consult with Talbot and reveal to him your plan to find your father’s assassin. You suspect that the assassin is not acting alone and that someone within your father’s empire is working with him. You have confidence that the increased security will discourage further attempts.

According to the rumors and information you have gained from your own investigations, you have an idea where the assassin might have fled to. Not yet a pirate haven, that empire is more of a criminal hideout. It offers protection to anyone who enters its borders. The empire also offers protection from hunters, for a large fee of course. Thus, you will need to send spies and ensure that the assassin is there before you can take any action.

Worried that you might the next target of this general, you consult with Talbot and Colonel Haru.

After a long meeting, the three of you come to the conclusion that the best solution is the construction of starbases to bolster your defense. The history of the Celebration of the First Harvest was lost through time. Some believe that it is based on a myth of when the first Aspha Miners came to this galaxy. Just as they had finished mining their first batch of minerals, they came under attack. The Great Emperor ordered all the newly-harvested minerals to be gathered and he made a mystical weapon from them. With the mystical weapon in hand, he drove out the invading aliens.

Another source simply states that this celebration is held to honor the gods who had protected their safe journey to this new galaxy. Hence, the Aspha Miners brought all their first harvest of the minerals as an offering of thanks. While they were offering their gifts, an alien fleet invaded their system. The weapons of Aspha Miners were ineffective against the more advanced starships of the enemy. Suddenly, the gods manifested themselves and drove the invaders away.

Even though no one is certain of the true story behind the celebration, every Aspha Miner celebrates this festival in high spirits. Contests are held everywhere. There are even sculpture competition where the more artistic Aspha Miners can put their skills in sculpturing on different kind of minerals to test. During the celebration, you make an appearance and address your people. When you give away free consumer goods to them, they cheer and hail you.

The loyalty of your population has increased by +500 in all your systems!

Act 2 > Mission 6
Background
Finally, your spies report that they have identified the assassin. He is a highly-skilled assassin. However, he escaped before your spies manage to track him down. You punch the wall of your room in frustration. You were so close to capturing the assassin and yet again he escaped. Now, it is almost impossible to track him. Nevertheless, you send another transmission to your spies, ordering them to search for any clues as to his destination.

Dr. Tomoyo finds you in deep thoughts when she enters your office. She politely coughs to catch your attention. When you finally notice her presence, she apologizes for intruding but something requires your immediate attention. An essential piece of equipment used to decrypt the blueprints has broken down. No cause for the damage is found but a replacement has to be acquired as soon as possible, as all research is halted.

Mission 6 : Lost track
A large sum is spent to secure the new equipment, but the price is well spent as this new equipment performs more efficiently. Seeing the happiness on her face, you cannot resist her smile. She thanks you for the fantastic replacement which you have acquired. Suddenly, she stands on tiptoes and kisses you. You are rooted there even as Dr. Tomoyo departs from your room.

Act 2 > Mission 7
Background

One day as you are resting in the gardens, a sudden rustle of leaves alert you. Instinct takes over as you roll away, a blast of energy destroying the bench which you occupied a moment earlier. Drawing your energy sword, you deflect the next shot back to the assassin. As he draws his own sword, you observe him. It looks as though your father’s assassin found you first.

Exchanging a few slashes and thrusts, you know that you are facing a blade master. Within the small clearing the garden offers, both of you circle the other, testing defenses. Slash and thrust. Parry and riposte. Every move is countered. Soon, you know that the one who makes the first mistake will die. You are beginning to tire and you know your opponent is also. You need something to break the rhythm.

Suddenly remembering an old trick taught to you by one of your old tutors, you smile. The assassin takes this opportunity to strike. You barely managed to react. Countering with a weak slash, he blocks easily and seeks to impale you upon the point of his sword. Instead of moving backward, you drop down to your knee and take him in the stomach while his sword cuts deeply through your shoulder.

Blood flows freely while you struggle to open the garden door. Mustering the remaining strength, you shout for guards. You see a young Aspha Miner running toward you. To your horror, he raises his gun. A sharp pain suddenly erupts at your side and darkness swims up to engulf you.

Objective
Increase the security of your empire by having total Pr of 5,000,000.

Mission 7 : Assassination attempt
Everything around you is dark. You can feel that you are walking down a path but you have no idea where you are heading. You continue on the endless path. Suddenly, you see a bright light in the distance. You begin to run. You can see the light is getting nearer and nearer and all of a sudden, you are in a bright tunnel.

Blurry images form before your eyes. When your vision clears, you can see Dr. Tomoyo, Talbot and a few other ministers in the room. The young Aspha Miner whom you saw earlier is also here. Talbot notices you eye him suspiciously and explains to you that this young Miner is the one who saved you. Talbot signals to him to explain.

Nervously, the young Miner steps forward and stammers, “My…My Lord, plea…please forgive me. When I reach you, my Lord, the…the assassin was struggling to…to aim at you. Quick…Quickly I pulled my gun and fired. But the…the shot glance off his shoulder just as…as he pulled the trigger.”

You can still feel the pain at your side. Trying to smile at him, you thank him for his quick action. If not for him, it might have been your head that the shot went through. Then, Dr. Mendel arrives and orders everyone out of the room. You need to rest.

Your people are concerned about your condition. They present you with Red Crystal minerals as a sign of their care.

His timely remarks bring laughter out of you more often than not.

Soon, you are fit enough to take back your office which Talbot was temporarily holding. After you have gone through all the reports, you notice that the small but aggressive nation has not yet given up. More than half the reports of fighting originate from it. You decide that it is time to put a stop to it. You send word to the Technology Research department that you want the blueprints for an Aspha Battleship to be completed as soon as possible.

Act 2 > Mission 9
Background
You are preparing your proposal for the offensive fleet to be built. After going through each ship carefully, you have finally come up with an excellent combination. During the next council meeting, you reveal your plan of attacking the small Aspha Miner nation. Although as Aspha Miners, you are loyal to your own race, your loyalty lies more to your own clan and empire.

When you present your proposal, almost everyone agrees. General Haru suggests some minor adjustment to the arrangement so the enemy will not be able break through your fleet. You see the wisdom in his suggestion and agree with his plan. Soon, the list is sent to the shipyards and construction of the ships begins.

Objective
Have a total ship upkeep of 1,000,000

Mission 9 : Offense fleet
It has taken a while but your fleet is finally ready. You will personally lead the attack this time. Your wish to retaliate only shows that you will not tolerate the continuous attacks.

As you board your flagship with General Haru and Edwin by your side, you turn back to see Dr. Tomoyo down there beyond the gangplank. Smiling at her, you give her a wave before closing the door. You can feel there is something building up inside you. Unable to determine the source, you leave it as it is for you know it will come to you in time.

You have added +20 M.Flysch to your fleet!

Missions
Act 2 > Mission 10
Background
It has been a few days since you arrived at the site of the last attack. The attacks have been most persistent on this front. Steadily, your fleet moves toward where you believe the empire is located. Aboard your ship, you and General Haru have been going over the attack plans again and again. Any mistakes on your part might cause the plan to fail.

Not long after, a scout sends a transmission that they have detected the movements of some ships. According to the reading, it is most likely a small army. Checking your position, you notice you have just passed the limit of your patrols. Assuming this is the enemy you are seeking, you call all your battleships into formation and move towards the given location.

As you near, you notice that the planets around are old. You can even see some ruins protruding from a few of the nearby planets. You begin to wonder what your enemy is doing here. Before you can give any more thoughts to it, your ships come under attack. The enemy ships have spotted your fleet and laid an ambush for you. Nevertheless, your fleet is ready for them.

Objective
Have a total Pr of 10,000,000

Mission 10 : Retailiation

As you are about to give chase, you notice a small fleet in the distance, trying to slip away unnoticed. Suspicious, you break off a part of your fleet and order them to trail behind this small fleet. After a while, you are sure that this fleet is escorting a small transport ship.

Wondering what the transport is carrying, you command your ships to capture the transport. They speed ahead and engage the escorts. By the time you overtake them, the fight is over and the transport ship is captured. You receive a transmission from the rest of your fleet that most of the enemy ships are destroyed. Only a small number of the ships manage to escape.

You have included the whole system into your empire.

You receive +1 Orion system with 10,000 planets!

After inspecting them, you order your soldiers to fetch the artifact specialists from their science department.

While you are awaiting their arrival, you continue to look around the room. Suddenly, a metal box catches your eyes. Even as you approach it, you can almost feel it calling for you. The feeling grows stronger with each step you take. Just as you are about to touch the box, the artifacts specialists arrive. Turning to them, you give them instructions to remove the artifacts back to the lab and determine their uses. Act 2 > Mission 13
Background
You are puzzled. Many days have passed but there is no sign of your enemy. Since the prisoners have been so adamant about not revealing the secret of the locked room, you believe that it must be very important to the enemy. However, nothing happens. In fact, you have not heard from that empire in days. Fearing that they are planning mischief, you decide to send your spies to that empire to gather some news. You cannot bear to sit idly by while knowing nothing about your enemy.

In the meantime, gather food to fill your new warehouses.

Mission 13 : Puzzled
Artifact Bonus: +5 Minor Suerte
You are astonished with the swiftness at which your spies return with their report. You are even more surprised when you hear their news. The small empire has gone bankrupt! It seems that they have been trading artifacts with other empires. They are selling some old Aspha Miners’ artifacts to other races. When you hear this news, you are furious.

However, you are relieved that this empire is finally gone. It seems that they had used up their money to build the last fleet. They are depending on this shipment so that they could recoup their costs. The upkeep of their ships had been bleeding them dry. Alas, your attack on them has spelled destruction to the empire. You are glad that you have put an end to this betrayer of your race.

Your scientists have identified a few more artifacts.

You receive +5 Minor Suerte

Act 2 > Mission 14
Background
You are interested to know what kind of artifacts the traitors have been selling to other races. With a determined step you head to the archaeological lab to check up on their progress. You have learned that when you personally put in an appearance, the morale of your workers usually rises. You hope that with your presence, you can urge them to work faster to achieve results.

When you consult your fellow ministers earlier, Talbot states that he is worried that the traitor empire has been selling the secrets of the Aspha Miners. Hence, the nature and function of this artifact will be a very important clue.

Objective
Gather 100,000,000 Credits to fund the research

Mission 14 : Unknown artifact
Indeed, your presence has increased the morale of your workers greatly. After some experimenting, they concluded that this artifact was used by the ancient Aspha Miners to store information. However, it is heavily encrypted and protected against tampering. Any detected attempts will destroy all the data within.

The chief researcher explains to you that they will need to decode the artifact carefully. This will take a lot of time and money. As you feel that this is very important, you tell him to continue their research on it. If they need anything, it will be provided to them.

You are resting peacefully when your communications device beeps ceaselessly. You wake up to an urgent call from your ministers. From the device, General Haru shouts, “Your greatness, our Empire is under attack!”

At this, you rush out of your sleeping chambers and hurry to the observation room. Once there, General Haru fills you in on the situation. Hours earlier, movements of a large force was detected in the outer rim of your empire. They are moving at an incredible speed and have wiped out the defense fleet sent to intercept them in record time. As you are being briefed, this alien fleet is moving towards the heart of your empire.

The alien fleet has left a path of destruction in its wake. Every force that you sent out were destroyed completely. Getting desperate, you decide to gamble everything you have. You give the order for your forces to retreat and regroup at the headquarters as this is where they are heading. You also withdraw all the defense fleets from other parts of your empire. Have a total fleet upkeep of 2,500,000

Mission 15 : Suprise attack
Every single ship in your empire is gathered at your headquarters. General Haru positions them at strategic places and assigns a few fleets of ships that lay ambushes and to flanking positions. This is where you will make a final stand. Even after all the previous attacks, the invading fleet does not appear to have diminished. In fact, it is much like was when it first appeared in your empire.

Urgency begins to grip you. You have sent distress signals out and hopefully reinforcements will be fast in coming. You have done everything you can and silently pray that your forces are able to hold the invaders until reinforcement comes. Speculations fly regarding the appearance of the invader fleet. Only one reason stand out among the rest- this is the empire that has been buying the Aspha Miners’ artifacts.

Your soldiers found an abandoned hangar on a planet and the ships are added to your fleet.

Resigned to the thought that nothing else can be done, you prepare yourself for the imminent attack. Now, boosting the morale of your soldiers is more important than anything else for they are the ones who will determine the outcome of the upcoming war.

Fear spreads throughout your empire. Your population donates some money to aid you in the defense. You are really grateful for their support in this time of need.

You receive +25,000,000 Credits!

Fortunately, your forces manage to put up a strong front and hold a firm line against the enemy. The battle is fierce and you are steadily losing more ships. You know that time is running out. If the reinforcements do not appear anytime soon, your empire is lost.

You have been waiting and there is still no sign of any help. You are about to despair when you receive a signal. Help has finally arrived! However, when you gauged the distance from the reinforcement, you discover that they are still too far away. You are not positive that you can hold long enough for them to reach you. After conferring with General Haru, you decide to risk an attack on the enemy. It might throw them into confusion long enough to hold them until help arrives.

They are able to stand firm against the first and second wave of attacks. By the third wave, your enemy manages to break through the line. And then, chaos reigns. There is fighting everywhere. You can almost hear the ships exploding overhead.

You despair and almost give in. One by one your ships are destroyed and the main bulk of the enemy forces are getting nearer to your headquarters. A few shots have hit the barrier erected outside. However, you know this barrier cannot hold for long if more ships break through. To your horror, you can see the last line of your ships is destroyed and the enemy forces are approaching fast.

You can almost see everything moving in slow motion. One of the enemy ship, larger and faster than the rest, is approaching in your direction. You can see the cannon underneath the ship are charging for a shot. You can almost taste death when suddenly everything explodes in a bright light. When your vision returns, you expect to see destruction everywhere. Instead, to your amazement, the enemy is retreating. More alien ships have joined in the fray and are beating back the enemy. It’s now almost dawn, you keep your focus on the military base just outside your temple remembering that General Sarient was in command of that place before. Suddenly you hear a knock on the door. Quickly you open the door and saw a messenger bringing you an espionage sealed letter. It seems that, there was a disastrous explosion in one of the research labs of the other empire and a scout was stolen from the empire’s fleet. Thinking it might be Sarient’s doing, you’ve ordered half of your military fleet to venture out and search for the scout.

About three hours later, the scout was recovered with its cockpit intact. You immediately rush to the medical center where the cockpit will be sent to later. Although there were not much hope the survivor in the cockpit was Sarient, you wait anxiously. Not long later, the cockpit has been sent into the Med Lab. The message was heavily coded, you are sure that it is definitely some very important information which Sarient exchanged with his life. Few hours have passed and you will not give up on decoding the message. Then suddenly, you hear a beep from your decoding machine. It seems that the whole message has been successfully decoded. However, you still need a password to read the message. Knowing that the password will most probably be something that you and Sarient treasure the most you try to key in the password.

The first one you’ve tried is ‘peace’, “Toot!” the password was denied. You keep on trying a lot of passwords and all of them failed. Then you recall that when you were young Sarient loved to play a game with you called Korusk. Carefully you key in the word ‘Korusk’, beep and the message was opened.

Sarient’s Message:
My friend and my brother, I know by the time you’ve opened this I should be in very critical condition or I should have joined our loved ones in Nirvana. I’m sure you’ve been very supportive to me as you did not report me to the high council for my wrong doings. I know that I can trust on your instinct for believing in me. Time is running short and I’m sure we will have much time to chat about when we meet again no matter where.

I have discovered an ancient relic artifact from an uncharted planet I’ve invaded during my last mission. On the artifact there were ancient A. Miner’s codes. Although I can’t read them, I do recognize a symbol on it. It was the same marking you can see on Minatus’s arm. If you recalled, when we asked him about the marking he simply refused to answer us by leading us to talk about something else. I felt very curious about this. I’ve run certain tests on the artifact and found that there were some sort of inscription inside the artifact. Also, the artifact contained a very high radiation substance. It might be some form of protection mechanism of the artifact.

I disguised myself as a Tech Lab Personnel and went to Argonite empire. I did this because I’m afraid that Minatus might not want us to know the truth. Knowing that I have to do this alone and keep you out from harms way I’ve decided to put my life on the line.

While the Argonite scientists were trying to open the artifact, some of them went insane after some time researching on it. Later when it was finally opened, it radiated some sort of beam which shoots right pass the hull of the facility and then exploded. I was safe as I had armor on. However, I’m seriously injured. I’ve found a map inside the artifact. It might be a map to some secret. I’m not sure if it is good or bad. However, the truth must be revealed. I’ve included the map with this message. I hope you’ll investigate into this matter.

Not long after, there seems to be word spreading saying that you’ve lost your judgment for matters after what has happened to Sarient.

You’ve called for a meeting with the advisers to prevent the general public from going into a riot since they’ve lost their military General for some time now. You went to the meeting room early today recalling the first day when you stepped into the temple knowing nothing about leadership and now you’re one of the most successful empire leaders there is. Not long later, Minatus walked into the room with a smile on his face, glad to see you.

It seems that only Minatus will be having the meeting with you because he wanted to tell you something private.

Minatus said,
“Before you say anything, please listen to me until I’ve finished. This is because what I’m going to tell you might change your opinion on things….
How should I begin, as you know Master Himarin was the greatest A. Miner leader there ever was. You’re nowhere near his capability as he never fails to make the best decisions. During the Asphalt-Collectives war, our entire race has suffered major losses and Himarin refused to give up on the war. This caused even more losses to our race. I hope that you would think about this before you make any harsh judgment.”

Knowing that Minatus has always wanted peace and harmony for the empire, you know that Minatus would not agree if you were to declare war. Perhaps you should devise a better plan to go around things.

Having the exact amount of fleet you’ve send to investigate on the map you’ve got from Sarient, this might lead the people to think that you’ve called back the fleet. The building of the ships was carried out by a few of your most trusted personnel.

Good news, it seems that the 100 G. Lictor you’ve sent out found an alien type of system at the location given by the map and they are bringing it home. In the meantime, they have sent back some ships they’ve found floating around the system without a pilot. This may seem weird. However, greed takes a role here.

Act 3 > Mission 8
Background

It is very weird to find ships without pilots floating around. You’ve decided since they are rather good ships to waste, you’ve ordered them to go into military fleet. Things seem to be getting weirder and weirder as there are very few alien systems left in the universe and finding one means a lot to your empire. You must make full use of it. However, you remember that the system might contain a mystery to it as your military located it using the map found in the relic artifact. There must be more to this. You’ve ordered your fellow scientists to prepare themselves so that they will be sent over to the system to do some research.

Chief Adviser Minatus might have not yet heard about this, however you’ll be sure that he will walk up to you and start lecturing you again about this. To prevent this from happening, you’ve ordered your entire military division to stop being offensive and only defend against any possible attacks until further notice. In the mean time, you wait patiently for the entire alien system to be fully explored so that any avoidable threat can be eliminated.

Seeing that the process will take a long time, you’ve decided to cheer everyone up a little. You’ve offered to give some sort of bonus to all your general public and military personnel.

Act 4
Act 4: Secrets Revealed
The new alien system is added to your empire considering the amount of resources you’ve spend to acquiring it. You’ve ordered more than half of your scientists to the new system to conduct research and digging activities on the system. News has come from General Sarient that he is recovering in the Medical Facility at another system and he wishes to see you.

Immediately you depart for the Medical Facility. While you’re on your Royal Scout, your convoy passes the alien system. You’ve never seen such a system before. It is entirely red in color and it glows a little making it noticeable from afar. There must be a reason to the existence of this system. Only God knows what mystery it has in store for you. You made a silent promise to yourself that you must protect this system from being destroyed no matter what cost.

Not long after, you arrive at the Medical Facility. With a cheerful mood you walked into the facility and straight to Sarient’s room ignoring the greetings by the medical staffs there. You’re too anxious to meet Sarient. It’s been a really long time.

You walk into the room and you see General Sarient sitting by the window on his rocking chair. It seems that he is humming a tune… As you recall, it is the song that both of you used to sing when working in the mining facility back in the Sol System. It was a very long time ago. Not wanting to disturb the passion and mood of the room at the moment you too hum the tune along with Sarient. Slowly you walk to the side of Sarient and you see that he is in a really relaxed and happy condition. It might be because ever since he was sent under training with Lieutenant Ihom he had not taken any holiday. Making this his first holiday, you too feel happy for him.

Not long later, you hear your personal reminder communication pod beeped indicating there’s an urgent matter. Immediately you read the message. It seems that two of your scientists have gone amok in the Titan system. They were found to be dead stabbed directly into the head by each other at a dig site. This made things even weird. Why would anyone do that? You immediately ordered one of your commanding officers to provide full military support to the system. The military shall assist all scientists along with their work to prevent such a thing from happening again as the military is more trained to handle serious torment and stress.

After settling with your issues, you focus back on Sarient. It seems that he had a big smile on his face and had his eyes closed. Suddenly he greeted you, “How are you my brother? I had a really beautiful dream lately. I dreamt that Master Himarin was teaching me all his military skills while writing a book or diary of some sort for you. I’m sure we have his blessing in the things we do.” Smiling back at him, you said “Definitely my brother.” Before this, you thought that you will have a lot of things to talk to Sarient about. Somehow the both of you just sat by the window admiring the view outside for hours and hours. After having tea together, you told Sarient the system you’ve found using the map and asked whether he knew about the existence of the system before. He refuses to answer that question and told you to be careful because there might be people who will want o harm you in the coming days. He said before the artifact blew up, he overheard the scientists dispute about the death of Himarin being a revolt rather than killed in action. Then Sarient walked back to his bed to catch some shut eye.

Something from Sarient’s expression gives you the chill. It seems that he has changed a lot and he does know something that might not be good to you. Since Sarient wanted to get some rest, you left him and went back to your convoy. It seems that Minatus has just reached the facility and is going to visit Sarient as well. You just gave him a smile as he greets you and leaves the facility. Fearing that harm will be done to Sarient, you ordered some guards to provide full time protection for Sarient.

Act 4 > Mission 1
Background
You reached the Titan system. It seems that scientists are busy at the digging sites. You walked into the Research Lab and found GioTa greeting you. GioTa is the head scientist there in the new Titan's Research Facility. She’s well known for her studies done on ancient artifacts. According to her, at the digging site where the two scientists were found dead, two other artifacts were found. It appears that the two scientists were trying to bury the artifact back into the ground before they killed themselves.

She is still studying on the artifact therefore she can’t tell you much about it at the moment and she says that she’ll need a set of new equipments because these artifacts are too fragile to be handled with the equipment she has. Knowing that a scientist will need better tools, you’ve issued them even higher research budget hoping that will bring you results even sooner.

Himarin’s Memo:

“I’ve spent my whole life advancing my people. I’m now so alone sitting in this throne of solitude. All my friends have either perished in battles or conflicts. Being a leader was never my choice. I was granted this post because I’m the only Miner who had the courage to voice out. If I can choose again I would definitely not accept this responsibility.

Somehow, I must fight for what I have built up. I cannot stop now as there are other races which will harm my people. I must fight for them.

Peace has always been our race’s primary objective. However, we will not be left alone in peace since we are the richest race in the universe. Therefore, we will definitely be the target of other empires. I’ve decided that, offense is the best defense. As soon as I’ve conquered the whole universe, there will be no other empire which will challenge mine.”

Background
It seems that Himarin’s situation was not that different from your situation. Maybe that’s the fact that leaders of great empires do need to make life long sacrifices. However, you still have Sarient your best friend and Minatus who cares for your empire as well as you do. You do have advantages compared to Himarin.

GioTa has started working on the second piece of the artifact. This second artifact has much more inscription on it. And some of the letters have decayed after being buried for so long in the soil. Being very careful with this piece you must construct a special lab for GioTa to work in so that there will not be any mistake done. On this piece of artifact there is the symbol of the Hitron Star surrounded by five beasts just like the tattoo on Minatus’s arm. You must not let this piece of artifact go to waste.

Background
It’s been a few months since you joined GioTa in the then new Research Lab to work on the piece of artifact. The deciphering work is almost completed. Suddenly, you and GioTa felt a strong tremor and loud noises from outside the lab. Immediately you rush out and see that your empire is being attacked and your military is battling the enemy right in front of your eyes. You take your M. Hal and rush to the nearby hangar. There you command a G. Lictor to go into battle. Although your military personnel in the hangar advised you to stay in for fear you’ll be killed in battle, you persist.

After a few hours of gruesome battle and almost losing your life, your military has won the battle, driving the enemy out from your empire. Your empire has suffered much loss and you know it’s your fault. That’s because you’ve been so concerned with the work on the artifact and did not pay attention to military and empire issues.

Regretting about this, you decided to spend some time building up defenses for your empire and strengthening it. GioTa has to work on the artifact by herself since you’ve left. Somehow, your heart felt lonely as soon as you left the Titan System. Maybe because you’ve spent so much time with GioTa at the lab observing her virtues made you felt that way.

GioTa came to deliver the deciphered message herself. She seems extremely happy to see you and you feel the same way. She told you that the message has only been read by her alone and no one else knows about it. She even asked you to clear the room so that the message can be kept confidential. Knowing that GioTa might have her reasons for doing so you obliged by her request by bringing her to your private room. Being alone with her again in your room gave you memories of the times both of you spent together at the Research Lab. Putting personal feelings aside you asked her for the message.

Record of Minatari Cult:

“This is a record of the Minatari Cult. The motto of our cult is to maintain peace and keep it. Since the beginning of time, we have supported all the leaders in order for the leader to successfully help the people. We dedicate our life to protecting the innocent and the empire. We will do whatever necessary to ensure the leader of our empire never does any mistakes. For the leader of an empire is the only person who can decide the fate of the people and empire, we will always stay by the leader.

Master Himarin is the best leader so far we have seen. His leadership capability and battle strategies are the best yet. We enjoyed much peace and prosperity throughout his reign. It has been a decade now since the Collectives tried to assimilate us. We will never bow down to them. In these times of war, we must keep a clear mind of things. We must keep our sanity. Three years ago, one of our scientists has developed a type of weapon which has the capability to blow up entire empires. The effect of the explosion will be catastrophic. Himarin has decided to use it against our enemy. It has always not been our style of fighting to attack the opponent. Usually we are the empire which defends what we have and invade for planets. We will never do suicidal missions. The decision to use the weapon will result in killing the ships which launched it as well for there is no running from the effect of the battle.

Master Himarin has gone insane as he commanded the entire A. Miner’s military fleet to launch a full scale assault on the Collective’s mother system, the Nebulac system. He wants to get to the center of the Collectives before launching the weapon. We must not let this happen. If he were to carry out this plan, the entire A. Miner race’s systems will be left defenseless. Master Himarin has gone insane by ordering every single ship shall attack and not run from the battle right until they reach the core of the enemy. There won’t be enough time for the entire fleet to leave in time. We have assigned Olig, the most courageous of our cult and the closest friend of Himarin to assassinate Himarin before it’s too late. We will not do this in public for no one should know of our existence. Also we must preserve the fame of Master Himarin for he is the best leader our race can have.”

After reading the message, you immediately knew that Minatus is part of the Minatari Cult. You don’t know what to do at the moment. Everything suddenly seems so blur after you’ve read the message. It seems that all the people you once believed in were merely controlling you throughout your reign as a leader. You broke into tears in front of GioTa. She walked up to you and consoled you. Gently she wipes the tears off your face and embraced you. It’s a warmth feeling that you’ve never felt. You told her to stay in the room while you go out to do something.

You walked out of the room and straight to your command post. There you issued order for the arrest of Minatus and everyone who has the Minatari tattoo on them. Something must be done to control them for they are the suspected murderers of Master Himarin. Also you’ve commanded your ministers to build your empire even higher in Power.

Then you walked back to your room to be with GioTa.

You wake up to see GioTa sleeping peacefully in your arms. You look out the window and see the mighty ships patrolling the area and recall when you used to look out the window alone. Maybe it was your warmth that woke up GioTa. She greets and smiles at you. Then you ask her, regarding the research on the relic ship found at Titan system. According to her, they are still dismantling the ship to study it. It will take some time before anymore information can be obtained regarding the ship. However, you’ll need to be much more careful with GioTa now because she’s bearing your heir. She’s pregnant. Reluctant to stay at the temple and rest, she insists on going back to Titan System to continue her work. Knowing that you cannot force her to do something, all you can do is to send a few more helpers for her.

In the mean time, you have to decide what to do with Minatari Cult, especially when Minatus is involved. Should Minatus be given a fair trial?

You’ve put it into public about the existence of the Minatari Cult. It seems that all the public are standing on your side and thinks that the Cult should be punished for causing the death of Master Himarin no matter what’s the reason. It’s obvious that the respect the people have for Master Himarin is seriously overwhelming. Being a fair leader, you’ve ordered for a fair trial on the matter. To hold such a serious trial, you know that it will need a lot of security enforced to prevent anything bad from happening during the trial. This is because the general public might feel like assassinating the cult members or even yourself.
You’ll be needing a lot of resources of that for about 200 members were caught having that tattoo on their arm.

Act 4 > Mission 8
Background

Much investigation has been done on the members of the cult. There were much evidence found in their residence and personal records. It seems that the cult has been active all this while and during the previous large Empire Celebration. It appears that they have taken advantage of it and made a lot of profit from cheating the empire funds. No wonder it was so costly.

The main evidence was found at Minatus’s personal communication portal. It’s an old memo record.

 Olig’s Memo

“Date 173 Hitron

Today, our entire military force has left our Hitron system on a suicidal mission to the Nebulac system. I must carry out my task before it’s too late. The Anti-Assault Ultimate Weapon is at the command bridge ready to be deployed as soon as we reach the inner core of the Collective’s race. I must stop Himarin before it’s too late.

I shall ask him for some private time for me and him alone to talk things out. If he refuse to listen I must kill him. Even if I will be killed after this I must not let my best friend destroy what we have achieved in our life. The peace must be kept.”

Olig’s Memo was an unexpected finding. It does solve some of the riddles that are messing up your head for awhile now. However, Minatus, speaking for the Cult, denied responsibilities for they are not the person who killed Master Himarin. The crowd roared in anger when they heard that. To suppress the crowd, you as the only judge in the trial rule out that the Cult was responsible and it’s not one person’s wrong doing. Minatus and the rest of the members stared at you just as the crowds were staring at them. It made you felt bad thinking that you will have to punish the person who brought you to be who you are today.

The trial took more than half a day and the decision has been made. All the members of the Cult will be hanged as punishment for killing Master Himarin. To punish them is not easy business, you’ll have to consider the possibilities of the Cult’s allies from other empires which might rescue them. To ensure that everything goes smoothly, you’ll have to increase the Power Rating of your empire.

It’s now almost morning and you still haven’t got any sleep. The respect you had for Minatus made you feel a little guilty. Suddenly there was a knock at your bedroom door. Since it may be the last time you can talk to Minatus, you might as well make full use of it.

When you’re at the prison, it seems that Minatus was badly beaten up by the guards. Minatus did not complain that to you, instead he had a friendly smile on his face. Politely you asked, “Yes, I have come here to hear you. Is there anything that you would like to tell me?”

Minatus said,
“Need not worry as I’m not pleading for you to release me from my punishment. We do not blame you for your action. What you have done is necessary and I’m happy you made the wise decision. I’m asking you here to inform you of what happened so that the truth can be revealed to all. Yes, Olig was the person who killed Master Himarin. However, Master Himarin was strong. After Olig stabbed him in the chest, he faught back and killed Olig. Knowing that he won’t survive to see the end of the battle he decided to activate the weapon before he reached the core hoping that the explosion will. Instead, it didn’t. However, the explosion which happened just at the border of the Collectives has scared them away ending the Asphalt-Collectives war. One way or another, Master Himarin did end the war. I hope that you will inform the rest of the universe regarding this matter so that the truth can be revealed.”

No sooner do you reach there that you realise that this was not a friendly call. Overlord Kain is outraged at how you made a fool out of him some months ago and now seeks revenge. He has gathered his loyal followers and constructed a huge fleet ready to attack. He demands you to step down from power at let him take over your empire, or he will destroy it.

You wake up one more to the most unwelcome sound in the universe: Maxwell on your comm channel.
"Greetings, eminent one. I was erm, on a cargo run yes, when I came across a sealed container. My scans show it containing quite a large number of planetary core artifacts, in excess of hundreds. Being but a humble trader I have no use for such frivolities, so I come to you to propose a trade. A meager 2 billion units of Terran Metal in exchange for the coordinates to this container. I will be awaiting your reply, oh gracious one."
You ponder the accuracy of this information. On the one hand, a few hundred PCCs is not something you want in the hands of the other empires. On the other hand, Maxwell's reputation preceeds him.
Should you take the risk?
Objective: Gather 2 billion Terran Metal (will be removed at the end of the mission)

Mission 5 : Get Smart!
Having gathered the minerals, Maxwell contacts you immediately.
"Oh thank you, generous one. Rest assured this will most definitely be put to good use. The coordinates are already on their way to you. A pleasure doing business with you."
A quick check confirms the coordinates are indeed in your possession. The trade was good. Racing off, you order the small expeditionary force specially prepared for this to take off immediately. There follows days of nail-biting tension as you impatiently wait for news.
A fortnight later, the team reports in: No signs of the artifacts were found, only a small cargo container with several useless orbs. Hurling nearby objects at the viewscreen, you cry out in utter frustration.
Maxwell's reputation does indeed preceed him.
